Today, it's definitely worth making the trip. We've had 8 cm of powder snow over the last 24 hours and 95% of the skiable area is accessible! The weather is mild, with a temperature of -2°C at 5 a.m. The snow will continue to fall slowly but surely throughout the day. What better way to maintain these beautiful conditions! The base is generally firm except for a few places in sector 7 where it is hard packed. The surface consists of powder, groomed powder, and skied powder. After yesterday’s thaw, the snow is holding up very well and the day looks set to be a good one to come and enjoy it. And the good news after this thaw is that the forecast between Saturday evening and Sunday is for snow. Due to yesterday’s freeze-thaw cycle, which softened the surfaces for excellent skiing, the temperature dropped slightly during the night and again this morning, so the surfaces are still wet or sticky in places but have mostly firmed up and hardened. Lets face it, we're not comparing the terrain here to that of the phenomenal ski circuses found in the Austrian Alps, so getting grounded on that thought Jay Peak is one of the best to be skied venues in Eastern N.A.! You get the best chances for fresh here, combined with a reasonable consistent vertical drop and an assortment of runs ( I'd like to highlight the glades, moguls and piste pitch). It is, however, expensive to stay overnight on or off hill but does offer a great indoor waterpark for family; fyi: not pet friendly! They will fine you for it without compromise! Check out the General Store in Jay for a fabulous "Slab" sandwich and whatever else too!
